Armageddon Bound by Tim Marquitz

  •   Product Description

Half-devil and miles from anything resembling heroic, perpetual underdog Frank "Triggaltheron" Trigg is the last man standing against Armageddon. As the favorite nephew of the Devil, Frank has led a troubled life, but he'd always had his uncle's influence to fall back on. Now, with God and Lucifer coming to terms and leaving existence to fend for itself, his once exalted status of Anti-Christ-to-be does little to endear him to the hordes of angels and demons running amok in the Godless world. With help from the members of DRAC, an organization of wizards, psychics, telepaths, and low-end supernatural beings, Frank must thwart the pro-Armageddon forces and rescue an angel in whose life rests the fate of humanity. Better luck next time, humanity.

This book was a blast to read. It was a fast-paced novel of urban fantasy. I am not a huge fan of Urban Fantasy but, Armageddon Bound has become a favorite.

The character of Trigg was done quite well. As a half-demon, his inner monologue were dark and humorous. That was part of the appeal of the novel. Marquitz does an excellent job of writing dialogue. His dialogue is witty and keeps the story rolling.

Another reason I enjoyed the novel was the action. Armageddon Bound does not let up. While it is a novel, it reads as a movie. If you enjoy the Matthew Reilly's action-packed books than you will not be disappointed with Tim Marquitz's Armageddon Bound. The book reads as if it was an action movie. The character of Trigg does not take much time to get a second breath. He is constantly on the go and taking down the enemy whether they be demons or angels.

Since I have a first edition of the novel there are a few grammar and typos; however, they are very minor and did not distract from the overall story. The book is also a tad short. While it is 300 pages the print is rather large so once I sat down to give Armageddon Bound my full attention it took no time at all to finish.

In the end, the book is a favorite, it isn't perfect but, if you want a entertaining read in an urban fantasy setting it does not get much better than this. The book is what it is, a breath-taking romp through heaven and hell. This is Marquitz's first novel, he promises more to come and I can't wait.

Just got an email from the man himself thanking me for the positive review. He sent me copy of his latest Sepulchral Earth as a thank you. Plan on reading it soon.

Didn't know the review was searchable as of yet so that's awesome that I got a reply from Mr. Marquitz. Class act.

  1. I just got a review up of Sepulchral Earth on Only the Best. It's a nice take on the zombie sub-genre. Definitely more serious than A.B.
