Last week, when I reviewed Mr. Marquitz's Armageddon Bound, review here, I received an email from the author and he attached a preview of the ebook Sepulchral Earth: The Long Road as a thank you for the review. Since I enjoyed Armageddon bound it did not take me too long to get to his latest work.
Sepulcharal Earth is a new spin on the zombie tale. While the zombies in Marquitz's world are no less deadly. They are also especially drawn to his main character who also has a spirit to help guide him throughout the story. Harlan Cole is a necromancer and one with a troubled past as he has lost his family to the zombie threat. He has vowed to end his family's torment and rid the world of the zombie plague. While I only got a sneak preview of the story. I was hooked right from the start. Harlan Cole and his spirit companion professor Cornelius are an interesting duo, combine that with zombies, swords, and a little bit of runes and you have an interesting tale.
While I only got a taste of Sepulchral Earth I can tell you that I want more. Sepulchral Earth contains everything you want in a zombie book. It is a cross between Resident Evil and the movie Demon Knight. A smart hack and slash zombie book. This one has peaked my interest and I hope you give it a chance as I plan on sticking with this series. If you enjoy zombies and Peter V. Brett's The Warded/Painted Man this is right up your alley.

I really liked it too. Can't wait for the rest of the novella.
