There we a lot of confusing portions to the book and I decided when I wrote my review I would stick to what I knew for sure. Like you I need to feel a connection to the book's characters. That said, there was no connection in this book.

I read this book a couple of weeks ago and am still not sure how I feel about it. It actually took me a while to realize that I wasn't even sure what happened in the end or if the mystery had been solved. But there were some cool concepts here that kept me reading and I can see why the book has impressed so many people. But I also had trouble feeling a connection to any of the characters, which is important to me when reading a book.
I have to admit that I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who had trouble with the book. ;)

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the book so much. I think I really got into the world building here. The plot seems to be a slow pacing, but I enjoyed the world that was created. Terelle is the mystery character. I think she is one I would like to read more about. I have heard different things on the second book. Okay, I picked up and was afraid to get it (even though it called my name) The Adamantine Palace a few months back. I had seen the second book was coming out and it sounded really good (this one). Now I wish I would have got The Adamantine Palace when I saw it. I am going to have to get both of these books now, thank you! I love reading my dragons and have not done so in a while. This sounds like the great series to get back into them.

Very good question. I was just notified a few days ago that my copy will be shipping soon so I will be checking it out to see if this is a factor.

I was also emailed by Deas himself and told that the next book in the series will not be like this one and more like the first in the series. I hope that is the case.

To be honest I'm a bit confused. Your post is from August 17th. You wrote "Next Tuesday you will be able to purchase CassaStar the latest entry in science fiction." Next Tuesday will be August 24th. How can I buy a book in August which will be published in October??

Thanks for the review. I am glad to hear there are going to be new demons introduced. I had a feeling as there would be with the mention of the demons on the walls at the place where Arlen found the spear. He read what the demons were but he had never seen them. I am looking forward to getting into this one. Thanks!
